logical argument, classical – Classical arguments derive from Greek and Roman philosophers and include three types of appeals: emotional appeal, or pathos—appeal to the emotions of the audience, logical appeal, or logos—appeal to reason, and ethical appeal, or ethos—the character or expertise of the speaker.
