Meaning of ethernet :

 

The high-speed network invented in Bob Metcalfe's Harvard Ph.D. thesis in 1973 that fueled the explosion of local area networks (LANs) throughout academia and industry. Ethernet works by detecting the data collisions that can occur when two or more devices use a data channel simultaneously. A device waits a random amount of time after detecting a collision and attempts to resend the message. If the data collide again, the device waits twice as long before resending the message.

 

For the term ethernet may also exist other definitions and meanings, the meaning and definition indicated above are indicative not be used for medical and legal or special purposes.
