Meaning of ash wednesday :
The Wednesday before the first Sunday of Lent and the start of the season of Lent. Christians receive blessed ashes on the forehead to remind them to change their hearts and lives and live a more deeply integrated Christian life. When ashes are received one is either asked “Will you repent and believe in the gospel?” or is told “Remember you are dust and unto dust you shall return.”
For the term ash wednesday may also exist other definitions and meanings, the meaning and definition indicated above are indicative not be used for medical and legal or special purposes.
