Meaning of baptismal name :

 

When a person is baptized, child or adult, they are named again, this time in the name of the Father, Son, and Spirit. Most will keep their birth names but it is possible to be given a new Christian name at the time of baptism. This is especially encouraged in missionary territories to signify the break with one’s past and the new life they must lead as Christians. Parents are encouraged to be thinking about baptism as they name their children. A saint’s name for the first or middle name is traditional.
