Meaning of mysticism :
Religious experiences where people experience an immediate knowledge of and union with God. In the history of the Church there have been a number of saints who have had many such experiences (St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Catherine of Sienna, for example), though any Christian might have them. One of the tests of whether such an experience is truly from God, rather than from one’s own inner experience, is the results of such experience. Authentic mystical experiences lead a Christian to a deeper life of humility, charity and service.
For the term mysticism may also exist other definitions and meanings, the meaning and definition indicated above are indicative not be used for medical and legal or special purposes.
