abstract language – language that describes ideas, concepts, or qualities, rather than particular or specific persona, places, or things. Beauty, courage, love are abstract terms, as opposed to such concrete terms as man, stone, woman. George Washington, Rosetta Stone, and Philadelphia are particular concrete terms. Characteristically, literature will use concrete language to animate abstract ideas and principles.
For the term abstract language may also exist other definitions and meanings, the meaning and definition indicated above are indicative not be used for medical and legal or special purposes.
