Meaning and definition of alpine plant :
The acknowledged habitat of a true alpine plant, as classed by botanists, is one which grows between the 'treeline'( the limit of coniferous tree growth) and the permanent snow line. Surprisingly, the height above sea level is irrelevant as the conditions associated with this areas can be found at or near sea level in Arctic regions and above 6,000 feet (1,830 meters) in mountainous regions. Within these conditions many micro-climates will exist in which a vast variety of plants will flourish.
